Fire & Rescue
Application Review
The Fire and Rescue division services over 5,000 clients consisting of varied business units of Ports, Customs and FZ Corporations. Its strategic goals include ensuring high degree of fire safety and fire protection coverage, reducing impact of fire on environment and providing timely emergency medical services to all affected parties.
Division functions include:
- Attending to all emergencies - fire, explosion, chemical leakage/ spills, medical and rescue.
- The review of facility layout for risk assessment to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
- The inspection of facilities to ensure compliance with safe storage practices and appropriate fire preventive measures as per PCFC’s rules.
- The training of BU tenants in basic first aid fire fighting techniques.
- Incident follow-up and implementation of fire prevention practices.
- Conducting fire emergency drills with tenants and tanker berth users.
- Conducting scheduled maintenance of fire hydrants, valves and fire extinguishers in Port and FZ areas/facilities and on PCFC equipment.
- Ensuring a high degree of fire protection standards on tanker berths.

- Residential fires in Jebel Ali Village and DPA/FZ camps.
- Office Fires.
- Warehouse fires.
- Small and major tank fires.
- Product pool fires within process and manufacturing areas
- L.P.G flammable and combustible liquids spill fires at berths/ jetties
- Floating spill fires
- Vehicles involved in fire on Shaikh Zayed Road.
Non-Fire Emergencies Handled
- Hazmat operation
- Rescue operations (excluding rescue from water course and hazardous confined spaces). Other tasks and operations performed/special services rendered:
- Fire prevention (User awareness / educational outreach).
- Preventive standby duties.
- Preventive escort duties.
- Helipad standby duties.
- Testing and maintenance of fire extinguishers installed in DPA as well as Free Zone Companies.
- Pre-incident planning (Table-top and Joint Fire Exercises).
- Training in Basic Fire Fighting to DPA and Free Zone Company employees.
- Inspection of DPA & Free Zone buildings.
- Compliance with requirements of EMS as per ISO 140001 standard.

- Medium Scale Cat-2 emergency exercise titled “ETISAL” was successfully conducted at GULF ENVIRONMENT & WASTE FZE on January 05, 2004.
- Joint Oil Spill Emergency Response Exercise Tier-2 titled “AMWAJ” was successfully conducted at Berth 4/51 on September 15, 2004.
- Emergency Evacuation Drill titled “GAZAELLE” was successfully conducted at LOB 16 on October 06, 2004.
- Emergency Evacuation Drill titled “IMPALA” was successfully conducted at Customs Head Office Building on April 10, 2005.
- Emergency Evacuation Drill “ANTELOPE” at LOB 15 has been scheduled for June 07, 2005.
- Small Scale Emergency Exercises [Mock Drill] at high/special hazard industries in Free Zone
