How the UAE gratuity estimate is calculated
For the standard private-sector rule, a full-time foreign worker who completes at least one year of continuous service is generally entitled to end-of-service gratuity calculated from the last basic wage.
- 21 days of basic wage for each year of the first five years.
- 30 days of basic wage for each year after the first five years.
- Fractions of a year are calculated proportionally after at least one year of continuous service.
- Unpaid absence is not included in the service period.
- The total standard gratuity is capped at two years of wage.

Limited vs. unlimited contracts
