A common mistake is trying to attend every walk-in event.

That can waste transport money and, more importantly, your time.

Use this simple filter first.

A walk-in interview is not automatically easier to get than an online job. It simply gives you direct access to the recruitment process.

Your eligibility still matters.

Unless the employer says otherwise, prepare a small document folder containing:

Carry copies, not your original passport, unless there is a specific legitimate reason for an employer to inspect the original.

Do not hand your original passport to an unknown recruiter or agent.

You do not need an expensive suit for every walk-in interview.

Your clothing should match the role while still looking professional.

For office, customer-service and administrative jobs, business or smart formal clothing is usually appropriate.

For construction, maintenance, warehouse and technical interviews, neat trousers and a clean collared shirt are generally more practical than arriving in worksite clothing.

Reconfirm before travel — the recruitment details are current enough to publish but should be checked again before travelling.

A genuine walk-in recruitment event should not require you to transfer money just to meet the employer.

Also be cautious when someone approaches you outside the official interview venue and says they can “speed up” your recruitment for a fee.

Applying only to roles you actually qualify for gives you a better chance than attending every advertised event.
