About Al Zahra Hospital

Founded in 1981 in Sharjah, Al Zahra Hospital was among the United Arab Emirates’ first and largest hospitals. The building, originally designed as a hotel in March 1975, underwent a redesign in 1978 by Mumbai-based architects Krani and Sanghui Associates, transforming it into the hospital we know today. During the same period, the adjacent Concord Cinema was also constructed.

In March 2017, NMC Healthcare, based in Abu Dhabi, acquired the hospital from the previous owner, Gulf Medical Projects Company, which operates Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai. In 2015, Al Zahra Hospital in Sharjah reported revenue of $130.4 million and a net profit of $38.8 million. The hospital currently employs approximately 1,250 individuals, including 170 doctors, providing patients access to a wide range of medical experts.

In May 2018, the hospital entered into an agreement with the Sharjah Health Authority to offer senior Emirati nationals a 30% discount on medical services. Additionally, the hospital introduced a cosmetic surgery facility under the NMC-owned CosmeSurge brand.
